At first it is a little nerve wrecking to even think of putting both dogs together...but my beagle is so friendly and loving that they got along just fine (after a day or two).
The funny thing was when both dogs met...my little yorkie grawled at the beagle and my beagle ran away!
lol it was funny seeing the bigger dog scared.
I'm sure with time your two dogs will get along just fine...especially because your beagle is older and probably more mellow and affectionate...and...okay i'll stop.
