What testing did the vet do?
How much does he weigh and how many ounces of water does he drink daily when you put the bowl down?
Does he drink more than a cup of water a day?

The average (varies between dogs) is one ounce of water per pound of body weight per day. This is just a rough estimate and would apply to dogs eating dry food. It sounds like he is drinking much more than that and I'd be very concerned at this point.

Please ask the vet if diabetes insipidus has been ruled out.
Diabetes Insipidus

I agree, this isn't normal, something is wrong here.

Also, aqueous18, what do you mean extreme breath issues? Is he teething? Or do you mean "sweet" breath (again, thinking diabetes here)?
