Unless you really do it correctly, home cooking can be less healthy than Purina, at least Purina has all the nutrients a dog needs, and many dogs live very well on it. There are some types of Purina that are healthier than others. Looking for one with meat as the first ingredient is important. So many people think a healthy human diet is a healthy dog diet, and this isn't true, and it's really hard to give them all the calcium they need in a home cooked diet, unless you suppliment. I know Purina is not a popular choice here on YT, but she probably doesn't have the choices we have, and I'm sure it's not related to the dog's condition. Changing foods when a dog is already stressed isn't a good idea either.
