I am sorry to hear this...I do not take the pups from the dam. I do not allow them to nurse, but I allow her to be with them. I used a cover-up garment I made so they could not nurse.
If you are going to take the pups away if it reoccurs, I would not breed her..too difficult for her to endure...but with care it may never happen again. I had 3 moms with the problem. One was not bred again, the other two were..never happened again with another litter..but I suppliemented the pups and did not allow mom to be the sole source of milk. |
