I wouldn't have been nice about them not updating more than one person. As long as you weren't calling every 20 minutes, I think it's perfectly normal to worry and call to check up on your baby! I would have ripped them a new one! I too love my vet, but if she ever pulls something like that, they will need to hold the phone at like arm's length to not have hearing damage!!
