I really think it depends on the dog and mostly on the owner. My friend has a 25 lb. cockapoo and her dog pees about 3 times during the day on the pads. Her dog is the same age as Teddi (3 1/2 years old) and I told her that there is no way she needs to pee that much during the day and that she should be able to hold it. My brother has a cockapoo that is the sister of my friends dog and their dog holds it all day. My friend I think kept the pee pads down too long and she said even if she takes them away her dog will go into the kitchen and pee on the floor so she would rather have them down. I've never heard of a dog that big using pads and not being able to hold it but I guess each dog is different.
