The vet showed me how to do it, but if you do it wrong you can push the contents further up the anal canal, and cause an impaction, you want to press the glands gently around and behind. It might be best to have the vet show you for the first time. Joey's vet said some puppies don't empty the glands when they poop, they aren't pushing hard enough for some reason. Some people have success with a little fiber added to the diet, frozen green beans work for us. Some groomers automatically do this as part of the grooming, but many dogs don't need it, and I would never do it if they don't need it. Anal Sacs and Anal Glands (Sacs): Impactions, Infections & Abscesses in Dogs | Thanks for your advise and help . Funny enough he had a big poopy this morn and the smell was baaaaad .Feeling in there after there is no puffiness .I believe he managed to expell it .But he goes in to the Vet's in a week anyway and will mention it . |
