I did not think I would get Thor trained at one point. The key was **vigilence**. Do not give them the opportunity to fail. They must be in the crate, or you must have both eyeballs on them. It was seriously one of the most difficult things I've done in my life, just because it required such undivided attention.

I'm sure there are a few dogs that are truly untrainable, but I think a lot of yorkies are just tough, and their owners are not able give the task the focus and time it needs.
Yea, I've crated him for months when he was a puppy. But even after the whole crate training, just when I think he gets it, he goes indoors and loses my trust. I don't want to give up easily because I'm not a quitter.

He's a little over a year old now, and I've let him have full run of the house for a few months now. I've been letting him get away with potty accidents, but now I'm even more determined to get him trained. The main motivation is the smell his urine leaves behind. I don't want my place smelling like pee.

I'm going to start crating him again. I just hope it's not too late for him since he is now over a year old. I can't see myself crating him for the rest of his life.

How about I fly you to Los Angeles and you can potty train him for me? LOL...just kidding!

One another note....now that the time has changed we are back to Dog Park Wednesdays in Playa in the evenings....come join us!!
Hi Ronda!

I don't think it's a marking issue because he will only go on things shaped like squares. I'm sure he does this because he was used to being pad trained. I want to get away from pee pads because they tend to stink up my place. Plus it's unattractive when I have guests come over.

Good call on the belly bands though. I think I will have to make him use that. In fact, I'm going to start shopping online for some tonight.

As for the dog park in Playa, we will for sure have to join you and Teddi soon. Hopefully we can make it out tonight. If not this week, then perhaps next week.
