What food are you feeding? When we fed kibble, Franklin (who is 11lbs) only needed 1/2-3/4 cup a day. I understand Brownie is quite a bit bigger but I can't imagine giving 2-3 cups! I can't tell you for sure since I don't know which brand of food you feed but I'd cut it down to 1 1/2-2 cups.
Also, many of the recommended brands on here have weight loss formulas which couldn't hurt!
