It is an adjustment, for sure...last year we had to put down "his" dog, whom we'd had with us for 6 years, so she was well out of the puppy phase, and was always gentle & loving & behaved with him (although she was increasingly aggressive toward me). She was also a larger dog (50-ish lbs), and I think he has some unrealistic expectations about having a dog in the family. Apparently he thinks they're born trained?? He'll get over it.
