I have cut the quik on dogs that I owned before, but so far not my yorkie girls *crossing fingers* I just clip the very tips of their nails off once a week. That way I don't have to guess where the quik is. I agree with what the other poster said, it's better to cut off too little. I just did Missy's today actually. Both the girls stand very nicely for me. I put them up on the counter and they stand very nice and still. I started them the first week they came home.
Don't feel bad. You were just being a good Mommy and keeping up with the grooming.
