I am so grateful to know that Patrick [husband] and I aren't the only ones who leave Animal Planet on if we are not home!! We have been really hesitant to share that with anyone because everyone already think we are "nuts"! As far as barking, we learned from one of the training books that to break them of something that you don't like is to simply do something that they don't like! Toto was fine the first night we had her home ... slept all night in her crate without a peep. The next day at "naptime" she started barking! The book said when they do this to simply tap on the metal part of the crate with a metal object and since they simply hate that sound it would break them of barking!! It worked .... all it took was about a half dozen light taps [not whacks] and she doesn't do it any more. We occasionally still wait for a few minutes outside our front door to see if she cries when we have to leave her. So far, so good! We couldn't bear it if we knew she cried for us!! I guess we are a little nuts!! OK ... a lot nuts!! Fortunately in my line of work [researching documents in courthouses] I can simply tuck her in my bag, grab my briefcase and off to work we go! Noone minds and unless I have work that requires so much concentration that I can't give Toto the attention she wants I just take her along and she patiently watches or naps in my bag! What a girl!!!
