No breeder can predict adult weight, she can give you an indication within a pound or two, but most breeders always guess smaller. Some breeders will sell before the 12 weeks age, so buyers will think their dog will be smaller. Remember that there is no different classifications for yorkies like there is for some breeds, all yorkies are in the toy breed, and standard is 7 pounds and below. I suggest looking for a breeder who breeds to standard. Beware of breeders who use the word "teacup", their dogs are often bigger than standard, and they use the word to attract buyers. A 2 pound 12 week old puppy is estimated to be 4 pounds as an adult, but this varies, and no breeder can guarantee this. You should visit the breeder and see what the breeding pair looks like; puppies will resemble the breeding pair. The only way you can buy a 4 pound dog is to buy an adult dog, who is through growing.
