You can get these products through your vet (usually don't need an appt.) or some pet stores sell them. Stick with Advantage or Frontline (or maybe Comfortis or Revolution although I wouldn't use them). No Hartz, Zodiac, etc.
Btw, not everything totally dies off during winter in MI. That's why most vets here have started strongly recommending heartworm meds year-round. |
I've been told a flea can be dormant for up to two years, so even the cold freezing weather doesn't kill them all out. Although I do think fleas are much worse in warmer climates.
Chances are if you've got one there are probably more and I would most likely treat the house, bedding and dogs.
