My son had a bulldog that at so fast he used to choke himself and never chewed his food. My brilliant son came up with this - he turned a coffee cup over in his bowl and put about 2/3 of the food under the coffee cup. He had to eat the first third from around the cup and then tip work at tipping the cup to get the rest. It definately slowed him down and he quit choking. i think slowing him down got him to begin to chew. A coffee cup might be a little big for a Yorkie but I'll bet you could find something around the kitchen that would work the same way. I have some really small bowls that would probably be Yorkie sized. |
