Default How much water is too much water for a 5mo old??

I've read in a couple of places that say if a puppy drinks excessive amounts of water per day that it's usually a sign of a problem ? Such as kidneys etc...
Then I read somewhere where it said that your puppy should drink 1 ounce of water per pound of body weight. My dog weighs 2 lbs at 5 months old. He drinks more than 2 oz of water a day! The 2 oz seems to be too little water in my mind. My Yorkie drinks about 3/4 cup for the whole day. That's just a guess. He has small 4 oz bowls that he drinks out of. I fill it to 4 oz then I might add about another 1-2 oz of water later in the day.I leave the water out for him the whole day while he's with me at work and when he gets home. I do remove the water around 9:30 PM and this has stopped most of the late night accidents in his crate.

What do you guys do for water. And about how much do they drink?
