Oh gosh yes, I expect them to bark in certain circumstances. They are my alarm system, and they MUST tell me when someone is here. Once I acknowledge, they must quit. They also get to bark/talk to each other when engaged in play; it's part of the zoomies, and come get me game. Barking is a way of communicating for them, and I wouldn't take that away.
It's just nice to be able to stop it when it isn't appropriate. I no longer have to scream and yell at them, or add to the noise with coins in a can, or squirt water on them, or lock them in the bathroom when workers come. We can calmly and sanely go to quiet mode now.
