Help! So our new little guy loves to dart out the front door! And he is REALLY fast so most of the time he is gone past your left before you even realize it! Thankfully we live in a small neighborhood on a cul-de-sac lot but still I hate when he does this. It is extremely hard to catch him to because he is sneaky and fast lol! If he runs out with Stedman he will just go where Stedman goes and it is not a big deal but if he is out by himself he just runs around like a mad man!! No amount of calling him will get him to come to you. We do not have a foyer where we could put a baby gate up to keep him from entering. I could put one of the front porch but DH was afraid our bigger dog would crash into it because when he is let out to go potty he runs full force out the door usually lol!
I want to get him to stay when we open the door but so far he just hasn't caught on. Any advice? I read the other forum on what to do once they get out the door and I will be working on that. I just want ideas on how to get him to NOT run out the door at all unless he is on leash.
We never ever let him outside off leash because our house borders 500acres of wetlands and there are just to many wild animals out there! His other family let him roam their yard alone to go potty so I am sure that he is just used to being able to go out the door when he wants to!
