Hi mscat,

The only vaccine that is required by law is the rabies vaccine and that requirement is NO more often than 1 time every 3 years. So your dog Suzi would NOT be due for her next rabies vaccine until 3 years after her last rabies vaccine. And since you said Suzi had her other shots, I personally would NOT do any more of the other vaccines. None of them are legally required and too many vaccines can do significant harm to our pets.

Even though the rabies vaccine is required only 1 time every 3 years it most likely has a duration of immunity for longer than 3 years. So, right now research is being done to prove that the duration of immunity from the rabies vaccine does in fact last longer than 3 years. That way hopefully the rabies vaccine law can be changed so that the rabies vaccine will NOT be required 1 time every 3 years -- but instead hopefully maybe 1 time every 5 years or 1 time every 7 years since the rabies vaccine can have serious adverse reactions.
