I'm coming back to this thread because I don't know if we answered your questions. Anything we didn't answer?

The rabies vaccine is the same (1 yr. or 3 yr.) for most companies, but it won't be treated like a 3 yr. until the one year booster. The 3 yr (or most call it 1 yr. when it's given as a pup vaccine) is given as a puppy shot. A 3 yr. (most now call a three year, but still the same as the one yr.) is given as a one year booster. After that, the same one (the one labeled 3 yr. but is actually also a 1 yr. under a different label) is given every three years in CA.
