I don't see how it would create trust issues, could you please explain what you mean? It doesn't hurt them and the ones not doing the barking don't seem to be bothered by it when I am using it for the ones doing the barking.

My dogs are much better about barking since I started using it and they seem to know what it means. I say quiet first, then I press it once if they do not stop.

It has NO effect on my cocker spaniel even when I am next to her and press it.
