Very true....location is important. I have had three CT pups in my life and all of them had collapses along the entire trachea. I believe most of them have them in the thoracic area making it a very difficult surgery with not so great results.

Having just had one this past year, I can tell you that there are not any great advances. The newest surgery is the one that is done internally, but that one also has a large failure rate. I spoke with two specialists and they both did not give me any reason to pursue this surgery. Of course, Ozzy was older, which made the odds worse, but they were both pretty frank about the success rate.

I spare no expense for my own pups and our group does not for our fosters either. My decision had nothing to do with money, but everything to do with what I would put a pup through. Until someone can prove to me that this surgery has better rates of success, I will never put a pup through it.
