Do you have a zoom on your camera? If so try standing in a doorway to take photo. Also if there is a interval shooting option on the camera. Place camera on tripod - wait till she gets use to camera on tripod. Then start interval shooting. Go on and join her on the couch then you can get pics of the two of you
