Breeder/exhibitor's dock 1/4 to 1/2 inch into the black.......but, if you're going to dock, a better way to measure is to realize that you should take into consideration the size of the yorkie at adulthood. Not that difficult and taught to me by my repro vet.....you dock at the point the tail meets the vaginal opening or scrotum......that way the tail will be in proportion to the size of the dog. |
I always dock about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch into the black just like Mary. I always show my vet where I want them docked and he will mark it where I tell him too and then proceed. I will learn how to do this myself so I know it will be done right. I just haven't had anyone show me how to dock yet.
