i think your little one had ple, lymphangastasia, or epi sadly
as bloodwork showed low protein and all three of those things are low protein related. Vet could have done plasma transfusion and there could have been some diet changes as well once dog was stabilized - next time a dog is sick like this getting them to internal medicine is key
as they know more about internal organs, etc. There is a reason they specialize in certain things as vets cannot know everything about everything especially if they have never dealt with that health issue
this vet should have referred you to a specialist when he could not get this dog stabilized
