I just came across this thread when I was googling "Betty Westhoff" Last night I was visiting my grandparents and they bought a Pomeranian 5 years ago from a couple who didn't say where they had gotten the Pom from. When I was there last night we were going through his medical records, and we came across the paperwork they got with him, it turns out he came from Betty Westhoff, he is AKC registered, but he was actually sold from the broker "BJ and Guys"
It is so sad reading more about betty online, I read a report from 2004 where she had over 350 dogs, was USDA inspected, I don't want to call her a puppy mill but she had many problems with her facilities that needed to be fixed from what the report was saying, she had over 100 puppies, some sickly.
My grandparents Pomeranian's behavior and health is understandable now, he has horrible luxating patellas and is going to likely have one leg amputated, he also doesn't have the best of temperaments despite being socialized. |
