I prefer a docked tail but that's not really your question. I believe if you have one already spoken for, the new owner should be able to choose what they want. This past summer we had a litter of Australian Shepherds. The standard on them also is to dock the tails. Right at birth, one was spoken for by a lady in Germany. It's the standard there NOT to dock tails. She specifically asked for that one to not be docked so we only did all the others. She did end up choosing a second one also and I was concerned about the tail already being docked but she said (if I remember right) that it's not "illegal" to dock them, just not "preferred" and that she was fine with it. I guess you have to be to spend that much on travel to come get them plus the cost of the pups. :-) If you have a deposit on the "undocked" one, I think it's just fine to go with their wishes.
