My vet says that it will be illegal to dock tails in Canada in the near future. As it is in Europe. He points out that it is purely cosmetic and very painful and traumatic for puppies! It is not like Yorkies are still chasing rats and need it to be removed/docked for health and safety! I don't know HOW people/breeders do it! I pay to have it done, but leave the vet's office so I can't hear the pups scream! I don't feel good about it at all!
I do not dock if a client requests. More and more people/clients are asking about it, so maybe it will be outlawed soon.
I look forward to the day!! I do not have the de-claws removed anymore, because same vet says in small dogs it is unnecessary.We have not had any problems so far!
