Oh I know, it was love at first sight... I am lost in love....I can see I won't be getting anything done in the near future!
Oh my!
I don't know what to say. I found her listed at the breeder's website, with 3 others available for adoption for various reasons, mostly no longer suitable for their breeding program, I'm guessing. On their site they have pages on the history of Biewers and the Standard, and are members of the BTCA as is Ms Biewer, whom they are in contact with on a regular basis concerning the history and development of the breed, here in the USA. They are members of the BTRA, which is the only Biewer Registry that requires DNA testing to insure Biewer parentage. They list their names and phone numbers and promptly answer their emails. They show nationally and internationally, and state their goal is to adhere to the Biewer standard to gain acceptance to the AKC, and the betterment of the breed. As to why they used a Scottie Rescue to list their available adoptions , IDK other than an awareness of the strict screening process that most Rescues have in place, and not enough traffic to their website? I 'll ask them about that when I meet them on Saturday.
I feel bad myself, as I know that rehoming retired breeders is really not rescue, even though they need homes too, and many people don't like older dogs, they want puppies. Also I feel bad that I made a decision and a promise to Peek A Boo (one of my Yorkie Rescues) that any pups I brought into our house would have to come from a healthier, more controlled environment than the Humane Society, because when I adopted Tinkerbell from the Humane Society, she brought with her a deviant corona virus (my guess) which turned into a deadly pneumonia and just about killed Peek A Boo. So, until I can build a quarrantine area, I can only assist in rehoming healthy pups from breeders. Also, Tink was seen by my vet before she set foot in my house, which didn't really help.
The only thing I fear is maybe this all sounds too good to be true? But worth investigating IMHO.
