Having a dewclaw tear it extremely rare. Even my dads hunting dogs never had a torn dew after running in the woods chasing a bear. In my entire life I have never seen it happen. Not saying it doesn't, but it is rare. especially when we are talking about pets and not working or hunting dogs.
So we will have to agree to disagree on that issue

It can be a hot topic, and I can only go my experience and research that I have done on this subject. And I respect each person has their own views on it.
When I breed my yorkies however, I will be doing tails and dewclaws because that is what people want and expect. I will actually give the choice to the client if they want it done or not.
People are starting to see more and more the reasons for docking and dew claw amputation do not hold water. And people are more and more wanting dogs natural. And I believe more people will start wanting their yorkies natural as well.
