Cry Lost a pup today

hello all,
I'm new here and I own two wonderful yorkies for 2 years (georgia and chewy). My mother-in-law gave them to me when she and her husband moved back from guam. She had been breeding yorkies for many years and wanted to spread the love for them over in Guam. However, they came back before bringing the two yorkies over. Therefore as a birthday present she gave them to me.

My husband and I discussed breeding them and I decided that with his experience and the quality of the two that they would make wonderful puppies! My Georgia had 5 puppies on the 16th. I was very shocked she had that many and that all had lived... that is until today.

One of the pups began crying over the last few days. we kept an eye on the weight and didn't notice a difference til yesterday when this little guy's weight was only 6 1/2 ounces to the others' 9-10 ounces. We got worried, fed him and hope that he would pull through but feared the worse. After feeding him some formula and holding him on the pad for a while he finally made a few more whimpers, moved his weak head and passed away.

It is SOOO hard losing this little guy and I'm trying to cope with this loss. I guess it comes with the territory but I am so grateful for such wonderful dogs and puppies. Although I wish we could've saved him, he is no longer suffering and in a better place and we did all that we could do. As I recall from one of my fav. movies "where the heart is" where Novalee takes her baby she states, " how could you love something so much you barely met?" I feel that way right now and will always have a special place in my heart for my little buddy.

Thank you for your time in reading my way of dealing with this.
Jessica
