You know, until you have gone thru this, you have no idea how devastating it can be. I live on 2 acres, my dogs NEVER go out unattended. My husband took them out last winter and there were 2 dogs in my yard. One attacked and severly injured my Harley who the next day had to be euthanized. My husband was right there trying to fight off the other dog. The animal control officer in our county was amazing. She persued this to the bitter end. She got the guy to court and we were able to reclaim 1/2 our vet bill ($1400) and the dogs owner is prohibited from owning any dogs in this county for 2 years. So, whether her fence was secure or not, if a dog wants at your dog, sometimes there is just not a whole lot you can do about it. My husband had scratches on his arms from trying to fend off that dog. So, we still take extreme care when we take them out, but a hawk, coyote, owl or other dog could be just out of your line of sight and there you go.I just don't feel anyone should say "she should have done this or that", how do you know she didn't? |
