I have no idea how to train a yorkie like that, but I have learned an emergency action that has actually saved Gizmo's life! Thank you YT! (This is where I learned it and it is worth repeating.)
If your dog accidentally gets free and starts running toward the street, run AWAY from your dog!!
I found out that it really does work! Gizmo thought it was a game and started chasing me while I ran away from the street.
I ran past my son while Gizmo was chasing me, and my son scooped him up. My heart just about stopped!
