My Great Pyrenees has it too. But he's also bow-legged so the surgery said unless we want to put his leg in braces (which requires them breaking the legs first) then surgery is not going to help. What has helped a lot is he get a glucosamine and a fish oil pill every day along with his exercise. We started slowly with a week of bed rest while the ligaments healed around his knee and then started him on short and slow walks. Then we just added more and more distance. Now he can run and jump and he's knee holds up, but when he gets overly excited and jumps while twisting around it will pop out. The vet showed us how to stretch and massage his leg so that it goes back in with out causing any force and pain. Hope that helps. So sorry that you and Pean are's going through this. (((((Hugs)))))
