my dogs respond to thier name. You say Tucker, he looks up and comes to you. My husband and my kids all have different voices and ways of talking/saying thier names and you say his name he looks at you and he comes. If you say one of the other
dogs names, they will look up in interest but wont move untill you say thier names.
I too have heard not to name your dog that sounds similar to a command. My brother in law has a dog named Nemo and thier trainer told them that it was to close to NO, thats why they were having so much trouble with training him.
