I doubt this person with the chihuahua would put down an additional deposit or even notify the apartment manager that she has a new pet. It is my experience that management may enter a home to make sure the residents are not in violation of their lease if they suspect anything. An unauthorized pet would be a violation. Those are my thoughts, and I will refrain from making any direct recommendations. Unfortunately, I don't know how apartments are in Florida as far as their policies. I just wanted to offer any help I could. Cookie was the first thing on my mind this morning, and I want nothing more than to see this sweet baby back home. My heart goes out to you Gen.

Very good idea! Apartment owners usually want their money and they may be willing to investigate (whether or not you choose to disclose to them your situation).
