I believe there is a 24 hour bug, which I think is a stomach virus. If you eat something and you have severe diarrhea usually within 30 minutes of ingestion, that is your body's reaction to food poisoning, which could be Samonella, e-coli, etc. If your body does not rid itself of the toxin, you can become extremely ill for days and then it's called food poisoning.
