thank you all.. Mary my babies are born in a whelping box with a cover too.. but is a medium size very spacious..LOL and it takes half of the pen,i change to the crate that only takes 1/4 of the space and that way when the new parents take them home they are use to the crate in the pen and yes I use a pee pad on the floor so far no accidents on the bare floor.. Jeanie thank you for sharing your ideas too.. I LOVE reading the way everyone deals with the rearing of their pups..
