Use taxis - car parking can run 40-50 per day (or more). Cabs and subways are much cheaper in the long run. As for Broadway shows, prepurchase or take your chance at what's available at the tkts booth (at 47th & 7th) that day (about half price) but you have to wait on the lines - check out TDF.org.

Progressive Dog Club has a toy dog show all day Friday at the Pennsylvania Hotel across from the Garden - it is walking distance from the New Yorker and Yorkies above the age of 12 mos. show there in the afternoon on Friday (after sweeps @ the New Yorker). Many other toy breed specialties Sat & Sun at the Pennsylvania.
Mon & Tues Westminster @ Madison Square Garden
Breed judging during the day (Yorkies on Monday)
Groups in the evenings (Toy group Monday Night)
