Carmen, You're doing great.

In the past I've had a whelping box placed in a puppy play pen, never changing them to a crate. What I did do is line the bottom of the playpen with rubber squares (the kind you use for excersising) and place washable pee pads on top of them. By the time the pups begin climbing out of the whelping box and hit the floor they start using the wee pads. After their first shots, I begin bringing them out to the kitchen area for play time. Wee, wee pads at stratigic locations. From that point on they are pee pad trained...no accidents, never mess their play pen again (even with wee pads down). In the mornings I hear lil tiny barks asking to be taken out for potty.
