I'm so sorry that you've lost her like this.
But have to say that I'm absolutely appalled at the vet.
Over here he would be struck off for refusing to treat an animal in such need, just because you couldn't pay upfront.
I've never known a vet in England even ask if you're able to pay before treating an animal. They tend to the animal then you sort out payment afterwards. If you can't pay there & then, you get a bill.
Think his behaviour is a disgrace, perhaps you have different rules in the States.
