She is definitely not overweight, and I only feed her twice a day with lots of little snacks in between meals (carrots, celery, cucumber, dog treats, etc...). At the last yorkie meet up I went to I was talking with some of the other yorkie parents (owners) and some of them were saying their dogs had a growth spurt between 1-2 years old. I am still wondering if anyone in the forum has a guesstimate on what her adult weight will actually be. I have a feeling if she keeps growing at this rate she might get to 5.5lbs. But then again... still not sure. Thanks for everyone's replies! |
Yorkie growth spurts can differ from line to line and whether or not your pup has been line bred. Very difficult to guesstimate the adult yorkie. So many factors figure in, parents contribute 50% of the pups genetic make up, grandparents 25 % and great grand parents 12%. What you need to remember is that each yorkie is different. Without knowing your pups pedigree it's a tough call.
