A remedy that works I know this is too late to help you, but I'd like to post about a similar experience with my 3-1/2 lb yorkie, Kenzie. She ate some truffles that were in my daughter's car. When my daughter realized what happened, she immediately pulled over and pulled as much of the chocolate out of her most as she could, then immediately drove home. We called the vet, who instructed us what to do. He said to give her 1/2 teaspoon of peroxide every 15 minutes until she threw up. It took two doses, but she soon began vomiting. I'm not even sure I'd call it vomiting. It was more like foaming at the mouth, kind of like something you'd see on the Excorcist. LOL First, it was white, then soon turned to a light mocha brown, then darker. Soon, she had gotten rid of all the chocolate, and had no additional problems.
The vet also told us that a dog would have to eat a LOT of milk chocolate for it to cause harm. (Good news.) The dark chocolate (particularly the kind Kenzie ate) was potentially much more harmful. So, if any of your pups happen to eat any chocolate, this works great, and I recommend it. Kenzie ate chocolate one other time, this time only a very small amount of milk chocolate, and I immediately administered the peroxide. Same results.
Good luck with your baby. Please keep us updated. Oh yeah, and guess what we made Kenzies' AKC name? "No More Truffles for Kenzie!" |
