Hi, yes there is a lot of coyotes in Calif. I am from Southern California (El Cajon) and I have lost several cats over the years to coyotes and some friends have lost there dogs to them also, taken out of there back yards were they had a 6 foot fence. I lived in a residential area and one night my husband and I were sitting out side and we saw a coyote go after my neighbors cat. So yes there are coyotes every where. Now that I am in Reno I have to watch out for not only coyotes but bob cats also.
