TOFFEE

1 C. butter
1-1/ c. sugar
1 TBSP corn syrup
2 TBSP water
1 tsp. REAL vanilla extract
1 pkg. (6oz) semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 C. finely chopped walnuts or pecans

Mix 1st 4 ingredients in med. saucepan over med. heat.
Heat, stirring often till it reaches 295 degrees on a candy
thermometer.

Slowly add vanilla. Pour into buttered baking pan. (9"x13")

Allow to stand 5 minutes. Melt chocolate chips and spread over toffee. Sprinkle with nuts.

Break into pieces when cool.

Don't try replacing the butter with margarine... you won't be happy with the results.

Great... I needed a Toffee recipe.. Thanks for sharing..
I'm still trying to put together my daughter's wedding gift that I still have and she was married in September... A little late but she'll get it. What's new
