I just went through this as well. My Ava had Giardia and coccidia. It was a real pain to get rid off. We went through 3 rounds to get rid of it and I followed all the instructions about cleaning (with bleach), washing her bedding toys, water/ food bowls all the time, etc. I even wipped her bottom after each poo (I think you may also want to try that as mine tended to have poo stuck to her even though I trimmed her hair). If they have poo stuck to them they can reinfect again.
I know many people told me that their dogs would continue to eat while they had Giardia, mine would not eat the whole time she had it. She would not eat nutrical, any food (chicken, rice, I tried it all). The doctor told me I had to keep her eating so I had to feed her prescription AD (wet food from the vet) from a tube. I also would put nutrical in her mouth twice a day to keep her sugar levels up. She finally starting to eat a little stella and chewy's raw freeze dried food. You may want to try that.

Also, mine was also only pooping once a day and was not regular at all during the whole process.

Now that we are rid of giardia she is eating very well and on a very regular potty schedule. I cannot stress enough how important it is to clean everything as much as possible. (I am sure you do already though). Even though I did this we still had to treat 3 times. The first time the vet gave her Metrodrozinole, the last 2 times we had panacur.

I am a new Yorkie mom, so while I am not an expert, I learned a ton about giardia in the last couple of months. All the best to your new baby.
