I'm sorry. I know what your brother must be going threw.
We had a German Shepard who I had to PTS at age 17 due to kidney
failure.We did what we could to keep him comfortable until I came home one day and he couldn't get up.
We carried him to the vet's by putting him into a blanket each holding
two sides and had to let him go. My terrier also had to be PTS due
to the same thing at age 16yrs. When they can no longer function
on their own it's the humane thing to do. It's terrible to say good bye
but all I can tell you is to remember you love them so very much you
don't want them to suffer in any way. When a dog can't be a dog
any longer it's time to say good-bye. They wouldn't want it any other
way either.
