What do you think my yorkie's chances are of living? I have a 12-year yorkie and for the past 3-4 days, he's been having trouble breathing/coughing when getting excited, so I took him to a local vet; the doctor put him on antibiotics and had him taking Robitussin DM for a virus, but I wasn't seeing any improvement so I brought him back a couple days later. They took x-rays and said his lungs are pretty heavily filled with fluid and they need to do an ultrasound to see exactly what's going on. They think it could either be his heart in which they can't do anything for, or cancer, or maybe it's something completely different and can be fixed.
This dog means the world to me and I want to do everything I can to save him .. does anyone have any opinions, or similar situations? Why can't his heart be fixed if that's the issue? I just don't understand why I didn't see any symtoms sooner; if his lungs are that filled with fluid, something would have had to be wrong sooner than just a few days?! |
