I didn't use kitty litter in mine. I put newspaper inside of the box and would clean it after the pup went and put new paper in. I have also used puppy pads in the box and that worked well too. I tried the doggy litter and my pup thought it was a great meal so that was the end of that. I never tried cat litter as I was afraid he would eat it.
