For barking, try coins in a can. Fill up an empty soda or coffee can with coins. Everytime they bark, calmly but sternly tell them Quiet and shake the can. Most don't like the noise! You need to be consistent with it. You can also use a squirt bottle but try not to let them see where the squirt is coming from... just a quick squirt will do. Sounds ridiculous but also those dust-off bottles filled with air you buy for the computer, spray that and it makes a funny noise (don't spray it in their face) and they usually don't like that noise either. Associate these things with a word such as Quiet. Give them a treat or praise when they do as asked.
